Tom O'Sullivan Foundation Advocacy
For the past four years, the Thomas P. O'Sullivan IV Foundation sent a representative to participate and receive training in legislative advocacy. The program, held in Washington DC, is organized and funded by “Fight Colorectal Cancer” a nonprofit organization based in Alexandria, VA.
“Call on Congress” is held each March in conjunction with National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Our Foundation’s representative along with 60 other advocates from across the United States converge on Capitol Hill to ask their representatives in the United State House and Senate, to co-sponsor proposed legislation, author companion bills in support of proposed legislation, and to vote in support of funding for colorectal cancer research.
Our Foundation’s representative, Doug Sharp, served two terms as the Chairperson for Fight Colorectal Cancer's Grass Roots Action Committee, the catalyst of their advocacy community. This committee helps the organization achieve its strategic goals and objectives.
